Two of our favorite neighborhoods in Chicago are Gold Coast and Lincoln Park. Check out our comparison below to see how these two neighborhoods shape up against one another.

Gold Coast vs. Lincoln Park

Just south of North Ave. and east of LaSalle Street, Gold Coast is one of Chicago’s hottest neighborhoods. Gold Coast has it all, with its prime location, proximity to the lake, shopping, and nightlife as well. With so much to do, Gold Coast is one of our top neighborhoods.

Lincoln Park is located between Diversey Parkway and North Avenue, close to the lake as well. It is home to restaurants, cafes, and multiple CTA options making it very accessible. With the beautiful park and a prime location, Lincoln Park is one of our favorite Chicago neighborhoods, too!

History and Unique Attributes

The Gold Coast Historic District has multiple historic landmarks within it and is also a part of the National Register of Historic Places. Gold Coast also boasts Oak Street Beach among other attributes.

Lincoln Park is home to the Chicago History Museum as well as the beautiful Lincoln Park Zoo.

Dining and Nightlife

Gold Coast is filled with great restaurants and wonderful nightlife, including Gibson’s Bar and Steakhouse, Nico Osteria, and 360 Chicago!

Lincoln Park also has many popular restaurants including Alinea and Cafe-Ba-Ba-Reeba, as well as late night spots like The J. Parker and Beermiscuous.

Shopping and Activities

The next time you’re in Gold Coast, make a visit Restoration Hardware on Dearborn and Goethe for an upscale shopping experience. While you’re there, check out their jaw-dropping cafe as well!

The Oak Street Shopping District is also located in Gold Coast and is home to upscale designers and luxury brands.

Lincoln Park also boasts plenty of boutique shopping, as well as big brands like Crate and Barrel and West Elm to peruse too.

Education 

Lincoln Park is home to DePaul University’s undergraduate campus.
